Congratulations on your purchase of a Bassforms enclosure. Your Bassforms enclosure has been engineered to last for many years and comes with lifetime warranty. Bassforms enclosures are manufactured from solid fiberglass. Therefore, to properly install your Bassforms enclosure and speakers, please completely read the owner’s manual and installation instructions prior to installation.

Caution: When installing a Bassforms enclosure in your vehicle, it is extremely important to firmly secure it to the vehicle. If the enclosure is not firmly attached, it can become a dangerous projectile in a collision.

• Eight #8-32 propel nuts Phillips hand screwdriver (#2)
• Eight #8 self-tapping screws w/ drill bit an electric or cordless drill
• Eight #8-32 black machine screws w/ drill bit Phillips screwdriver bit (#2)

Enlarging the speaker-mounting hole of a Bassforms enclosure is done in much the same way as any ordinary wood enclosure. We highly recommend using a drill with a 1-2” diameter-sanding drum with a medium grit sanding sleeve. This method will quickly enlarge the mounting hole so be careful not to enlarge the hole too much. Firmly hold the drill and sanding drum perpendicular to the mounting hole. With the drill at a medium speed, quickly move the drill and sanding drum clockwise around the mounting hole until the mounting hole is enlarged to your speaker’s specification.

TIP: Always keep the drill moving during this process and go at a fairly fast pace. Moving at a slow pace or stopping while the drill is sanding can create indentations in the mounting hole and possibly damage the opening.

To further enhance and protect the gel coat finish, we recommend periodically waxing or polishing Bassforms fiberglass products with a high-quality automotive wax or polish. To remove fine scratches in the gel coat, a high-quality mild polishing compound should be used. If scratches still remain, a heavy-duty compound should be used, followed by a polishing compound. Applying wax or polishing compounds with an electric buffer or polisher will further help to remove scratches. Two different methods can be used to mount a speaker in a Bassforms enclosure. The first technique uses self-tapping screws to mount the speaker. This method is quick and easy. However, if the speaker is removed repeatedly from the enclosure, the mounting holes may become stripped, and it will be difficult to create an airtight seal with the speaker. The second mounting technique uses machine screws with propel nuts. This method takes more time to install a speaker but has more advantages than using self-tapping screws. This method can handle more torque and therefore create a tighter seal. Also, the speaker can quickly and easily be removed and installed without damaging the mounting holes. However, some subwoofers may require that some of the propel nuts be modified in order for the subwoofer to fit in the cutout. Both methods work well. However, we recommend using the propel nuts with machine screws whenever possible.

1. Remove enclosure from protective inner soft bag/carton
2. Remove all from inside the enclosure.
3. Keep carton and packaging materials nearby.
4. They will be used during installation.
• NOTE: Inspect enclosure for damage prior to installation. Once the enclosure is modified, it cannot be returned. Secure and test fit enclosure prior to installation.
5. Place soft cloth bag in a clean area and place the enclosure face up but wrap the body of the enclosure with the soft cloth or a towel to help avoid scratching the gel coat or paint during installation in order to secure the enclosure and keep it from moving during installation.
   • TIP: You may find it helpful to have someone hold the enclosure during installation.

1. Carefully place speaker in enclosure. If the speaker is too large, the speaker mounting hole may need to be enlarged. Read the section on enlarging the speaker mounting hole. If the speaker is too small, apply the sealing tape around the frame of the speaker. This will center the speaker in the cutout and create a tighter fit when installing the speaker in the enclosure.
2. Align speaker in the center of the cutout
3. Once speaker is aligned correctly, use a fine marker and mark the center of each mounting hole. Pay close attention to keep the speaker still until the last hole is marked.
4. Remove speaker after all holes are properly marked.

1. Depending on which mounting method is chosen, a different size drill bit will be required. Use the supplied drill bit that came with the mounting method chosen. Do not use another drill bit with either mounting method.
2. After choosing the mounting method, attach the appropriate size drill bit to a drill. With the drill and drill bit perpendicular to the enclosure, slowly drill the mounting holes at each marked location. Pay close attention to keep the drill bit at the center of each mounting hole when drilling.
3. Clean out debris from inside the enclosure.
   • TIP: If you feel comfortable, you may find it easier to use the speaker as a template to drill the mounting holes. Keep in mind that you create a chance to damage the speaker with the drill so be very careful.

(We highly recommend mounting your Bassforms enclosure with the correct screws. However, if an alternative mounting method is desired that does not require the enclosure to be mounted from the inside, such as Velcro, strong 3M double stick tape, or L brackets, then you can skip this section and move on to the next).

1. Attach rubber feet to bottom of enclosure, if needed
2. Connect speaker cable from amplifier to enclosure.
3. Place enclosure in desired mounting location.
4. Using a drill and a 3/8” socket wrench, screw the self-drilling, mounting screws through the bottom of the enclosure and into the vehicle.
5. Clean out debris from inside the enclosure.
   • NOTE: Pay close attention to avoid any vital parts of the vehicle, such as gas lines, when drilling into the vehicle.

Firmly apply the sealing tape to the inside of the speaker frame or around the speaker cutout of the enclosure. When the speaker is placed in the speaker cutout, the tape will help form an airtight seam and also act as a sound barrier between the speaker’s steel frame and the enclosure.

Position speaker near enclosure and attach the supplied speaker cable to the speaker. The positive (+) cable attaches to the red terminal (+) and the negative (-) cable attaches to the black terminal (-) of the speaker.

1. If using propel nuts to mount speaker in enclosure, firmly insert the propel nuts into the back of each pre-drilled mounting hole. It is very important that the propel nuts are inserted firmly into the mounting holes because if just one propel nut falls out of the mounting hole during installation of the speaker, the speaker will need to be removed to reinsert the propel nut.
2. Place the speaker into the enclosure and align speaker with mounting holes.
3. If using propel nuts to mount the speaker in the enclosure, use machine screws with a drill and #2 Phillips screwdriver bit or #2 Phillips screwdriver, and slowly insert the machine screws into the pre-drilled mounting holes and propel nuts and tighten. Do not tighten completely until all mounting screws are inserted into the enclosure. Hand-tighten all mounting screws.
4. If using self-tapping screws, slowly insert the screws using a drill and a #2 Phillips screwdriver bit or a #2 Phillips screwdriver. Do not tighten completely until all mounting screws are inserted into the enclosure. Hand-tighten all mounting screws.
   • NOTE: Do not completely tighten the screws with a drill as it is very easy to over tighten the screws and split the gel coat finish. Hand-tighten all mounting screws with a #2 screwdriver.

1. Apply clear rubber feet to the bottom of enclosure, if needed. This will create room for the speaker cable to be connected to the speaker terminal. Also, it will help keep the enclosure from moving and isolate the enclosure from the surface it is on.
2. Connect the enclosure to an amplifier and check for air leaks.
3. If desired, apply the Bassforms decal to the front of the enclosure. Apply the center of the decal first and then spread it out to the edges.
4. Mount enclosure with Velcro or an alternative mounting method.
